Play Based Learning

During Play Based Learning time we can:

  • Play outside with sports equipment
  • Practice writing our letter shapes
  • Play together creating games and rules
  • Practice drawing, colouring and writing

When we do these things we are learning to:

  • Communicate
  • Share
  • Negotiate
  • Use our gross and fine motor skills

These are all part of the NZ curriculum. These are examples of:

  • English: reading and writing
  • Science: forces
  • The Arts: communicating, developing ideas
  • Health and Physical Education

We are also developing our key competencies:

  • Managing self
  • Relating to others
  • Participating and contributing
  • Thinking
  • Using language, symbols and texts
