Principal’s Message

Nau Mai Haere Mai,

My name is Viki Trainor and I am very proud as principal to lead and serve St John’s School. Our school is situated in beautiful Mairangi Bay overlooking the sparkling waters of the Waitemata and graced by the powerful presence of Rangitoto, a constant reminder of God’s glorious creation.  Our school values of faith, community, respect and excellence are extremely important to us and are the essence of our school curriculum. St John’s students stand proud and strong in their faith. They respect themselves, others and creation. Our students are encouraged to be active participants in their school/parish community.

At St John’s our very dedicated teachers aim to prepare our students for a future that is ever changing. Academic success for our students is of extreme importance and all of our students are encouraged to strive for excellence.

Through our rich curriculum we aim to develop the whole child. Playbased learning is a highly successful programme that operates in our junior school. Playbased learning not only prepares children for learning it encourages curiosity, creativity, social development and self-management.

Our digital curriculum is integrated across all learning areas. Our teachers are highly skilled in teaching using digital technology as tools for learning. Our children have a deep understanding of digital citizenship and the responsibilities and expectations that this entails.

St John’s belongs to the North Shore Catholic Kahui Ako (Community of Learning). We value working together to ensure ongoing educational success of all our children.

We want our students to be resilient, able to make decisions based on logic and to be active seekers and users of knowledge. At St John’s our children become powerful thinkers and curious learners for life.

St John’s is a school where learning is fun. A place where together we excel!
